Tiny Tots – This program is specially designed to cater to our youngest dancers. The 30 minute class is structured as an introduction to basic dance movements and positions. Children are encouraged to be creative and have fun! The recommended age for Tiny Tots is 2-3 years old. Tiny Tots perform in our June recital! A treat for both the dancers and the parents! KinderTumbling – Recommended ages 4 – 6 years. Classes are 45 minutes long. We will incorporate a variety of skills such as beginner tumbling, balance, coordination and movement. Participants will work on basic tumbling skills like backbends, somersaults, cartwheels, etc. PreDance 1 & 2 - Recommended age is 3-6 years old. This is the perfect way to introduce your child to dance and instruction. The class is 45 minutes long and time is spent on learning introductory Ballet and Tap focusing on movement and dance. The last 5 minutes are spent playing some of the student’s favorite games like Freeze Dance, Bear Hunt and with the parachute! KinderCombo – Recommended age is 5-7 years old. This class is 1 hour long and is a natural progression for kids that have graduated from our PreDance program or the student that is ready for more! The students will continue to build upon their ballet technique, tap and jazz will be introduced. These children will also have 2 routines in our annual recital! Tap – We have 4 levels of Tap to ensure that your child is placed in the class that is best for their ability level. Tap is a great form of dance that calls upon the use of timing, rhythm, balance and coordination. Jazz – Like tap, we currently offer 4 levels of classes based on ability. One of our most popular classes, your child will be exposed to many different styles including Musical Theater, Open and Fosse influenced styles. Ballet - Ballet is recommended for all of our students. It is truly the foundation of all forms of dance. It will help to achieve strong body placement and posture, control of movement, and promote self discipline. We offer beginner through advanced levels to accommodate all ability levels.
Lyrical - Lyrical calls upon the use of strong ballet technique, as well as, the ability to perform with emotional execution. This style draws on all other forms, using music with lyrics to express a story or feeling. Lyrical can be very rewarding for the more experienced dancer who wants to widen their range. Ballet 1 is a pre-requisite to this class. Must also be enrolled in a ballet class.
Contemporary - Contemporary is also available for our dancers ages 10 and up, or by invitation. This class is a fusion of Jazz, Lyrical & Modern influenced movement. Contemporary is a creative, fun and challenging outlet! Break Dancing - A fun new addition to our class offering that is great for ANY age! We have kids as young as 4 years old taking this fun form of dance. This class will focus on proper stretching, popping, and all the fun "tricks" that Break Dancing is composed of. Clogging – Similar to Tap Dancing, but has influences of Irish Step, Jazz, and Hip Hop. Dance Crews are taking clog dancing to a new level by competing on National Television! We are proud to be one of the only studios in the area that offers this sensation! Check out the links below to view clogging which is similar to what will be taught at N-Step: America’s Best Dance Crew – Dynamic Edition America’s Got Talent – Fab 5 Hip Hop Technique - Recommended age is 8+. This class will teach the basics of different types of Hip Hop such as popping, locking, how to “feel” the music, etc. Deo will then work on these techniques by doing some short choreography to help emphasize his teachings, but this will not necessarily be a “choreography” class, and it will not be a recital class. This is the type of class that your child should take if they are interested in learning more about how to perform the various types of Hip Hop to the best of their personal ability.
We recommend Zumba® for ages 16+. Teens are welcome during summer and school vacation weeks. Some specialty classes are for ages 18 and over.
